Welcome! My name is Elam Birnbaum and this is my homepage!

All About Me

Well, where to begin... You may have noticed my quite unique name. Click here to learn more about its origin, how I happened to get it, and a place for other Elams out there to get in touch with me.
I live in the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City. In fact, I have lived in New York City for almost all of my 25 years. I was born here, went to grammar and high school here (The Calhoun School), and went to college and grad school here (Columbia University). I am a full-blooded New Yorker and wouldn't dream of living anywhere else!
I currently work for a small startup Internet/Computer Graphics company called pixel Generation. Three friends of mine from college (Sebastian Ruta, Vincent Liggio, and John Oh) started this company up in 1995 and I came aboard in 1996. My résumé is available for perusal. Check out pixel Generation's web site to see what we do. Sebastian and Vincent also run Micro Madness, a computer reseller. They can get you great prices on computers and peripherals and provide consulting services as well. They specialize in Silicon Graphics systems. If you want to buy a single computer or an entire office load of stuff from knowledgeable people who will give you great advice and won't treat you like another number, then don't look any further!
Onough of the advertisements and on with my life! I have a wonderful Mom (Zmira) and a cool Dad (Elisha), and a great sister (Stav). We used to have the most beautiful yellow labrador you have ever seen named Sirius, but he died of cancer in 1995. We miss him so much and think of him all the time as evidenced by The Sirius Page.. This page is basically a gallery of pictures of him at different times in his life. It is a must see for anyone who loves labradors.
There are many things which interest me including; building with Lego®, wood, paper, metal, and other materials, playing Warlords II; a wargame I play over the Internet with people all over the world, medieval weaponry, fiction reading and writing, drawing, clay sculpture, softball, and squash. I hardly can find time for all of these, so they lay dormant until the urge to do something in that area wells up inside of me.
